JBJACA BUSINESSPUBLIC RECORD RESEARCH
JACA / METHOD01 — APPROACH

What careful research looks like

Keep the finding
attached to its source.

JACA BUSINESS helps make public business records easier to follow. We work from a specific question, keep a record of the indexes consulted, and write conclusions no broader than the documents allow.

The working rule

Separate the entry
from the inference.

A filing index can establish that an entry appears in a database. It may not establish the full history behind that entry, whether a filing is current, or what a court or agency would conclude from it.

Our summaries label the source and date, preserve useful identifiers, and mark gaps that need confirmation. If the question turns on legal effect, the original record and qualified professional advice matter.

“

Write down what the page says. Name the page. Stop where the evidence stops.

Four habits at the desk

Nothing hidden
between the lines.

01

Define the scope

Names, date ranges, jurisdictions and record types are agreed before searches begin.

02

Keep provenance

Findings stay linked to the public source, the custodian and any search date available.

03

Mark uncertainty

A partial index, spelling variation or unclear status is noted rather than smoothed over.

04

Respect the boundary

Research can organize information; it does not replace a certified record, legal advice or a custodian’s decision.
