JBJACA BUSINESSPUBLIC RECORD RESEARCH
JACA / SERVICES02 — RESEARCH DESK

Defined work, written scope

Five ways to
get oriented.

Choose the task that fits the question. If the request depends on a source we cannot access or a record that needs professional interpretation, we will say so before proceeding.

01
SEARCH

Business record searches

Searches of public filing indexes using the business names, jurisdictions, dates and identifiers supplied for the question. The written scope records which terms and sources were checked.

Useful when: you need to know what a named public index returns.

02
SUMMARIZE

Filing history summaries

A dated account of filings located in the relevant public sources. Source links and identifiers remain alongside each item; the summary distinguishes the filing text from any conclusion someone might draw from it.

Useful when: entries are spread across dates or source pages.

03
LOCATE

Custodian and source mapping

Identification of the agency, clerk or index that appears to hold a record, plus the public route available for confirming or requesting the original.

Useful when: the first search does not reveal who maintains the record.

04
PREPARE

Document request preparation

Organize a request around the record description, date range and identifiers likely to help a custodian locate material. The custodian decides access, fees and release.

Useful when: a request needs clearer identifiers or a narrower scope.

05
COMPARE

Record comparison

Side-by-side review of public entries or documents to note dates, name variations and differences that may need confirmation from the source agency.

Useful when: two public entries appear to describe the same business differently.

What stays outside the desk

Research is not
legal advice.

JACA BUSINESS does not certify records, decide legal rights, determine whether a filing is legally effective, or act as a government custodian. A public index may be incomplete or out of date. When the original or its legal effect matters, obtain it from the custodian and consult a qualified professional.
